"Fronting the Silver Daggers, Teresa Jimenez blends a mystic Hispanic sensuality into the core of American Folkloric Music "--Dr. R. Nelson, Ichthyologist

"The music made me lean back, shoulders down, relaxed after a long workweek. The song structures where subtle and unexpected in parts, funny but not pretentious, melancholy but not sappy." ---Marlow Matherne, Scholar

"Very good songwriters...Very good vocals and arrangements as well."

"An artist with an amazing voice and a huge appetite for musical exploration.'' --- Peters, CD Baby

"Songs with unique flavorings and uncompromising expression." ---“Bustin” Bob Mitchell, Ohio radio d.j.

the Silver Daggers

the Silver Daggers

The Silver Daggers’ sound, at once diverse and familiar, emerges from the swamps and mossy trees of their home in northern Florida. Each member has spent a lifetime there, and the strong rhythmic and harmonic traditions of the South come through in their songs.  These musicians believe in the power of music.  In particular: the power of the song.  No slave to genre, their songs are a fresh and spacious mixture of old school country, blues, folk, indy, jazz, and rock. The result is music that is refreshing amidst the current musical trend of repetition and regurgitation.

The Daggers boast a talented and experienced group of musicians.  Three of the four, Teresa Jimenez (lead vocals, guitar, and sometimes keyboard) Dave Kelsay (drums and vocal) and Tyler Mauney (upright bass), studied music at the collegiate level, while Michael Maloney (lead vocals, lead guitar) has played professionally in bands since he was 16 years old.  Members of the band team up in other ways, too.  Kelsay and Mauney provide an unshakeable rhythmic backbone on every composition. Jimenez and Maloney harmonize like a husband and wife should, while Kelsay supplies that crucial third harmony in the style of the Band, the Beatles, and Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young.

The Silver Daggers formed in December of 2009 and have steadily gained a following since then.  Their live shows are a blast.  Teresa Jimenez fronts the band with confidence, energy and style, and no show, no song, is like the last.  The music resonates with a wide variety of audiences.  You’re bound to leave each show whistling an unfamiliar tune.  As for recorded material, the Daggers recorded an 8 song EP entitled Love Is A Duel
in January, 2011.  They plan to refine another 15 originals for recording in the summer.  As they continue to gain momentum, and grow as musicians, the Silver Daggers are poised for success.
